Welcome Addelyn Helen Merrill

On January 20th at 8:49 a.m. Addelyn Helen Merrill officially joined our family! It was a planned c-section and also happened to be my brother Derek's 35th birthday. So at about 5:30 a.m. we left Peoria to drive 45 minutes to Banner Desert in Mesa. Unlike last time I semi did my hair and make-up so I wouldn't look too horrid in pics (like I did at Lili's birth).

In pre-op I was playing Words with Friends to calm my nerves. The Anesthesiologist came in and gave us both a thorough explanation of the Spinal block. This was more for David because he was having a test in Pharmacology two days later. Infact, being in the hospital with me was great practice for his test.

This time around was so much better! The Anesthesiologist found out that the Spinal Block worked on me twice as fast as everyone else. He was able to stop the medication from making me feel like I did last time. That alone made the surgery more bearable. Once I was ready to go, they called David in, and he sat right next to me. I remember looking at his face and thinking he looked weird. Looking back I realized he was nervous. I asked him if they had started the surgery yet and he said "J'lene the are already cauterizing your skin!". When they took Addelyn out I felt pressure and then RELIEF! recovery has been amazing. It's incredible how much difference it made not having a huge fibroid played in my recovery. In less then a week I was completely off Percoset. Dr. Richard Wilson also was the surgeon who removed my fibroid. Thanks to him Addelyn was able to join our family. I can't say enough about Dr. Wilson. He is a great doctor and was worth every 45 minute OB visit trip to Awatukee!

Liliana Dejavu! She reminded me so much of Liliana it was hard to see her as a different baby. It felt like we had Liliana all over again. Of course I don't feel that way anymore.

Yes you read the scale right Addelyn was a whooping 9 pounds! No wonder why I was so miserable towards the end she is huge! 9lbs 1oz 21 inches also keep in mind that she was born one week early.

I made everyone promise me that I had to be around when Liliana met her sister for the first time. Liliana has been so sweet with her and actually cries when I take her away from Lili's arms or say she can't hold her right then. They are only 2 1/2 years apart and hopefully will be best friends growing up. I didn't grow up with a sister so this is exciting for me.

My brother Derek and his wonderful family came out to welcome Addelyn. It was nice to have them here and meant so much to me that they came. They kept Liliana occupied while David and I stayed at the Hospital.

My dad also came out with my mother. He left with the Fernandez's and my mom flew home yesterday. I miss her already! It was such a tender mercy to have her here with us last week. Today we are expecting my father and mother-in-law. We are just as excited and blessed to have them come this week!

Addelyn's name was inspired by one of the customer service reps at Phil and Teds. Only she spelled it Adeline. I fell in love with the name and David also liked it, but was giving me a hard time until the night before she was born. I said since I was able to pick the name he could pick the spelling (hence came Addelyn). Helen is after David's grandmother. We adore me-ma and are happy to have a daughter carrying her name.

Isn't she GORGEOUS!?

2 1/2 Years!

My beautiful baby girl Liliana had her 2 1/2 year appointment with the Doctor today. I don't remember how tall she is, but she weighs a whooping 37 pounds! She was 85th percentile in height and 99th percentile in weight!

These past two and one-half years have literally FLOWN by! Just a little about her personality.

Liliana loves...
Going to the park
Playing with Max and Kate
Playing with her doll house
Playing with Princess Barbies
Babies
Dancing
Singing
All her cousins
Dipping stuff
Cheeseburgers
Princess dresses and click claks (high heels)
BOOKS! She is good and memorizing them and likes reading them to herself (i.e. Are You My Mother?)
Cuties
Kid Cliff Bars
Tom Cat app on my phone
Helping mommy cook, clean or whatever i'm doing
Hugs and kisses
Ice Cream truck
Charlotte's Web (she can sing all the songs)
Dora
Cheesy and ancient Christmas cartoons on Netflix
Nursery
Telling people what to do

Her Dis-likes...
Taking a nap
Taking a bath
Beans
Pooping
Me not giving her my full undivided attention
Time out
Pants/ jackets
Heights (included changing tables)
Potty Training
People telling her what to do

As you can see she has more likes than dis-likes. That is because she is such a sweet happy little girl. She loves people and sometimes I worry because she is a little too friendly with strangers. Just one more day of it being just my Lili and me. To be honest the thought of that is making me sad. Like she says herself we are "best girls".

Lili's Been Here

One day as I walking through the house I noticed small evidences that Lili had previous been there. For instance....
In the office I find all the fishes lined up by color.

In the living room I find small Barbie shoes inside doll shoes.

I walk in my bedroom and find all our shoes lined up by pairs outside the closet.

Some more Liliana cuteness...

Her and her best buddy Colty while we were in California. I've blogged about them previously because they get along so well.

Christmas morning with all her Princess barbies.

"Look mom I'm studying" We know she is learning from her Daddy's example of studying 24/7.
