Acrobats

Lately Liliana has been giving me a hard time about going to sleep. If she cries enough I just give in and go get her regardless of David's criticisms. However, last night she was crying and I told her it was time to go to sleep and walked out. A little later I was in the kitchen and suddenly her crying seemed to be coming closer and closer. Then David comes in with her sobbing right behind him. I gave a questioning look and he said he did not get her out. Then I saw a red mark on her forehead. I took her back to her crib and asked her how she got out. She then lifted her leg and placed it over the side of the crib. What a stinker! Poor David spent the next hour figuring out how to lower her crib even more. Liliana won and didn't go back to her crib till about 11pm!

Bathtime!

Disnelandia!!!!

During Thanksgiving break we took our little Mickey lover to Disneyland. It was actually David's idea to go and I jumped on it right away looking for the most economic way to go. We ended buying a multiday park hopper and split with the cost with our good friends the Maganas.

Since Liliana is totally obsessed with Mickey's Clubhouse, Mickey's Toontown was our first stop. We went to Minnie's house first and while in line Liliana was practically jumping out of our arms to meet Minnie. When it was actually our turn she was a little apprehensive at first, but after she went right up to her and posed for a picture.

When it came to meet Mickey she gave him a hug and threw a tantrum when we had to take her away. So worth every penny spent to go just to see how excited she was (tantrum and all). When we walked out of the Mickey studio she even ran back to the door and tried to open it to get back to him (while yelling his name).

The Fernandez's met up with us for awhile.

It was a great day!

Rainy Day

Last Sunday we met Grandma and Grandpa Fernandez in Blythe for a visit. My mom brought Hawaiian bbq and we had a nice feast. She also brought Liliana this cute rain coat and boots which came in handy today.

Trash Digger

As I was cleaning the kitchen this morning I threw away a cinnamon roll the I was trying hard not to eat. I turned around and started washing dishes and suddenly noticed how quiet it was. I called Liliana and she turned the conner with a big piece of cinnamon roll in her mouth. The sneek lifted up the lid of the trash and grab it as soon as I wasn't looking. Gross!

I guess it was a little to early to teach her how to use our trash can (to throw away her own diapers).

David's White Coat Ceremony

I know this post is late, but better late than never.

MidWestern University had there White Coat Ceremony OCtober 1st. Which I took to mean that they are now professionals. The best part about the ceremony was the Patty and Dan Merrill came out for a visit. When ever parents come out I feel like a little kid because we get spoiled. They took us to Buca de Beppo (AMAZING!). We were able to watch conference with them and were sad to see them go.

A Child's Prayer

Since we have been out here in Glendale, we have started including Liliana in our family prayers. So the times we remember, we gather at the sofa and say a quick prayer before we lose Liliana's attention. About two nights ago she walks up to the coach and folds her arms and just starts mumbling a prayer. You could not wipe the smile off David's and my face. Since then she continues to do it so tonight we got a short video of it. Enjoy!

Speaking of prayers two Sundays ago she yells "AMEN" in the middle of a (some what long winded) closing prayer in Relief Society. Some sisters could not help but giggle.

Fast and Testimony Meeting

Last Sunday at church we were finally able to sit up in chapel instead of the overflow. Although we were half hour early (miracle in itself) the only pew available was the very first one. Anyways I guess we should have taught Liliana some reverence before attempting to sit in the chapel. Here is a brief explanation of what she did.

1. During sacrament she keep saying hi and playing peekaboo with the people behind us.
2. She shouted "AMEN" a few time after each person finished their testimony.
3. She started a copy cat shouting match with the two year old across the isle from us. Including yelling NUM NUM back and forth when the other girl's dad gave her a snack.
4. Shouted hi to everyone that passed by us leaving the stand and walking back to their seat.

I know it's probably not right, but I think it's hilarious and she cracked me up all during Testimony Meeting. I'm sure after a few more Sundays I won't think it's too funny.

Then to top it off we were eating lunch at David's buddy Marshall's house and Liliana was lying on tummy on the tiled floor, meanwhile pushing her self back with her hands/arms and saying WEEEEEEEEEEEE!

I can't say this enough I love her soooo much she cracks me up everyday.

She's cute and scary!

Liliana and I do grocery shopping at Super Walmart. Being the experienced mother that I am, (not) I give Liliana a bunch of toys to keep her occupied while I shop. Yesterday she had a plastic toy tiger and when we were walking down an isle, she held it out and roared outloud at two ladies. She really scared them! They instantly fell in love with her and thought she was the funniest thing ever. Liliana is my bestfriend, we hang out all day together while David is studying. She makes me laugh every day.

Paa paa

Liliana is in love with all her Pacifiers. Not only are they her word of choice, but as you can see she has to hold on to everyone single one she can find! If I take one out she will pop another right back in. How am I ever going to wean her off these?

We keep a stash of them in her crib so we don't have to keep getting up at night to stick one back in her mouth.

And now we are in Glendale, Arizona

On the 27th of July David and I moved to Glendale, Arizona. Believe me if it weren't for David attending school out here, there is no way I would move to such a HOT place. Everyday has been at least 105 degrees (except for a sweet monsoon storm we had). The city is nice/clean and we love our apartment. Every store and restaurant you can dream of is just miles away. My favorite being Nordstrom's Last Chance in Phoenix.

Besides the heat, life has been good. We have had family over every weekend since we moved out. It's been nice because it gives me something to look forward to during the week. Our new ward is huge! It's seems like a great ward and I'm looking forward to getting to know the members. We've made friends with our neighbors upstairs. A young couple engaged to be married next year. I also frequent the Library's "Baby Rhyme Time" however, I have had a hard time getting Liliana not to take stuff away from the other kids and beg the other mothers for their snacks. If it weren't for Liliana I would be board out of my mind. She is so fun and I am enjoying my time with her.

These are pictures from her first Sunday out here.

David seems to be enjoying his new school and has been hitting the books. Here are some pics of his first day of school.

Liliana Photo Shoot

Mark Magana (Sharla's husband) took these for as at Griffith Park. I love the way they turned out.

Hot Dog! Birthday party!!!

Liliana and her cousin Garrett are only four days apart. We had a double birthday for them with a Mickey Clubhouse Theme. It was a BBQ/Swim party and it went from noon till 7:30. Lacy made these amazing cakes for them and David and I got a huge Mickey Mouse Pinata. It was a fun day with family and close friends. Especially because we were moving about a week later.

My First Triathlon

My fascination with triathlons began when I was 16 on trip to Costa Rica. One of the things I remember most of the trip is watching my cousin Laura Mata compete in a full Iron Man triathlon. The whole competition intrigued me and since then I have had a desire to do one myself.

I know I can't do a full Iron Man triathlon like Laura, but my very good friend Jocelyn (who is also a triathlete) told me that I could compete in a smaller sized triathlon. On Saturday, June 12th our Stake sponsored a "Tin Man Triathlon". It consisted of a 150 meter swim, 3 mile run and 10 mile bike ride. David and I both signed up and began our training. On most days we would wake up at 5:30 am to hit the gym. Saturdays I would run to build endurance and as soon as it got warm enough we practiced swimming. The only thing I did not train for was the bike ride. My other friend Sharla let me borrow her really nice and costly bike. The afternoon before the race I took it for a test drive and it broke. Luckily it was a minor problem and easily fixable.

Race day came, David and I decided not to be nervous and just do our best and enjoy it. The first part of the competition was at North High School's swimming pool. That was a breeze, I love swimming and it was only 3 full laps. Unfortunately, when the running portion was about to start the rest of the event was suddenly cancelled because of a fatal accident at the pool. Everyones excitement turned to grief. A few days later I was reflecting upon the events of that day and thought even though I was not able to complete my race at least I have a photos that look like I did. Just kidding, the truth is that I realized the time we spent training was the best and most memorable part. I know I would have been able to finish it (if we did complete all three events). A year ago when I was 50 pounds heavier after giving birth I would have never believed that.

Liliana's favorite song. She goes crazy whenever she hears it.

Liliana gets her ears pierced

And the whole mall knew! Five seconds later she was laughing at herself in the mirror.

So maybe I'll start blogging again???

Liliana's Easter gift from us. A sippy cup she can actually drink from.

I have not blogged about any of Liliana's first 9 months of life. Maybe I will go back and slowly add stuff, but for now I'll just start with Easter. Saturday we went to the Grandmas party at memas house. I enjoyed watching Patty feed her grandkids coolwhip blindfolded. Then she gave some to Lily (who did not complain). She already has her mommy's sweet tooth. Then Easter Sunday we we had a little get together at casa de Fernandez without my parents. They decided to take a well deserved trip to Monterey. After our small BBQ we went to memas again for a delicious meal and family meeting.

The Easter basket Derek and Heather got her.
